Nintendo Want To Release 3 Mobile Games Per Years

Nintendo plans to release as many as three mobile games per year

Big hit: 'Super Mario Run', which was released for iOS on Dec 15, was downloaded 40 million times in four days.

The Super Mario series is part of the greater Mario franchise. This includes other video game genres as well as media such as film, television, printed media and merchandise. Over 310 million copies of games in the Super Mario series have been sold worldwide, as of September 2015, making it the best-selling video game series in history.

Super Mario Flash is one of the best Mario Games around. This flash game plays very much like Super Mario Bros. 3 with the cool overworld maps that require you to move around and select a level. Of course there are the usually warps and shortcuts as well that you can take advantage of and the music is spot on. This flash game also comes with a sweet map editor that lets you create your own levels! It's time consuming but I've never seen anything like it before.

The Super Mario games follow Mario's adventures in the fictional Mushroom Kingdom, usually with Mario as the player character. He is usually joined by his brother, Luigi, and occasionally by other members of the Mario cast. As in platform video games, the player runs and jumps across platforms and atop enemies in themed levels. The games have simple plots, typically with Mario rescuing the kidnapped Princess Peach from the primary antagonist, Bowser.

The first title in the series, Super Mario Bros., released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985, established gameplay concepts and elements prevalent in nearly every Super Mario game since. These include a multitude of power-ups and items that give Mario special magic powers such as fireball-throwing and size-changing into giant and miniature sizes.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has announced that the company aims to launch two or three new games for smartphones and tablets every year.

In an interview with Sankei newspaper, he said that the games would have a variety of target customers and business models.

The company is expected to continue to capitalise on its long-standing licenses, with mobile versions of Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing slated for release in the spring of 2017.

Despite criticisms regarding the price for Super Mario Run (€9.99 (RM46.73) for the complete version) the game was downloaded a record 40 million times from the Apple Store in four days. It was released for iOS on Dec 15, and the Android version is expected to launch in the coming months. Nintendo is hoping to top 100 million downloads.

Following this announcement, the Nintendo share price was up by almost 4.1% on closing in Tokyo on Dec 26.
